Description

Come spend an afternoon outdoors learning the Japanese art of dyeing with indigo! Indigo is a plant-based dye with a brilliant blue color. We will be teaching Japanese folding techniques called Shibori - which are geometric, organic, and beautiful! This is the tradition that gave rise to tie-dye - but the results are nothing like those summer camp T-shirts. See the photo for examples! Each participant will receive a set of two kitchen towels to dye. You can also bring your own light-colored items for the dye bath (natural fibers only - cotton, silk, wool, or linen). We will have fun making some beautiful things, and then share some snacks and drinks.

This party is for grown-ups and kids in third grade and up (some of the chemicals in the dye process require cautious handling, so not suitable for tiny ones).

This is a Live Event Item.
