"I would describe my painting as impressionistic and sometimes expressionistic," she said. "I love color. I tend to use local color mostly as an inspiration for pushing or exaggerating colors."

"I am inspired by color, shadow and light, and the intersection of these elements as they give birth to form.”

A member of the Petaluma Arts Association, Barlas has exhibited her work at Art in the Park for the past four years.
