A 1 hour session with Marcus and Mardra Sikora to discuss it all! Mardra and Marcus are a mother-son storytelling team. Both published authors, they have discovered the power of stories to teach, to advocate, and to open conversations. They have spoken to groups of all sizes and ages. Most recently Marcus shared Black Day at the World Down Syndrome Congress in Glasgow, UK. Marcus loves to talk about his inspirations, Broadway, the pillars of a good story, and his travels. Mardra loves to talk about Marcus. And writing.


 


Marcus & Mardra's Bios:


Marcus Sikora, is a 28 year old storyteller, actor, and advocate. His first published book for children, Black Day: The Monster Rock Band, was released in 2015. Since then he has toured in support of the book, released an animated short, been on the cover of Down Syndrome World Magazine, and presented his story to groups of all sizes, including last year at the United Nations. Mardra Sikora, Marcus’ mother, believes in the power of words and uses both fiction and non-fiction to advocate for and with Marcus. In addition to award winning essays and short fiction, she is co-author of The Parent’s Guide to Down Syndrome and has work featured on many national online outlets including The HuffPost.
