Four Excellent Red Wines
2012 La Castellana, Castello di Amorosa, Super Tuscan: 90 Points - Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate. 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Sangiovese and 9% Merlot. This outstanding offering reveals background oak, hints of new saddle leather, blackcurrants, cherries, licorice and underbrush, a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel.
2010 Lineage, Stephen Kent Winery, Livermore: 94 points, 120 cases made. Riveting aromas of cassis, blackberry, mocha and chocolate brownie are dense and complex, unfolding in tiers. About as good as California Cabernet gets from an underappreciated region. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Drink now through 2028
2000 Fait Accompli V2 Dietrich, Madera County, Westbrook Wine Farm: Sold-out at the winery. This wine explodes in the mouth. Fashioned in the style of red wines from Bordeaux, this wine is a full flavored, deeply colored, highly extracted, yet civilized, Claret. A dark, powerful, mouth filling wine with complex expressions of currant and cedar.
2006 The Council Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir: 111 cases produced. Delicious and rare custom blend from the wine masters of the Santa Lucia Highlands, a collective work from Rosellas, Garys, and Pisoni vineyards.
