Description

Adelaida’s distinct family owned vineyards lie in the craggy hillside
terrain of Paso Robles’ Adelaida District, 14 miles from the Pacific
coast. Ranging from 1400 – 2000 feet in elevation these low yielding
vines are challenged by chalky limestone soils and afternoon
blasts of cool marine air, and a diurnal temperature swing of 40-50
degrees.

Adelaida Nebbiolo (2012)

Nebbiolo, the noble grape of Piedmont in the north of Italy, is the grape variety
behind the wines of Barolo and Barbaresco. Rare in California, it is the only
grape we source from outside our Estate. A close-by neighbor and grape grower,
Glenrose Vineyard is the source of our fruit. Known for its affinity for limestone
soils it has real potential here in the Westside hills of Paso Robles. The grape
requires special handling to tame its tendency toward high tannin and acidity.
Light colored due to less pigment from its thin grape skins we treat it like Pinot
Noir, maximizing skin contact during fermentation and ageing in previously
used cooperage.
This mystic grape, originally from Piedmonte in north west Italy loves the high
altitude, dry limestone soils of west Paso Robles. Lots of floral, savory notes like
dried rose petals, black tea and sage with a burnt orange peel nuance.

Adelaida Touriga Nacional (2014)

And now for something completely different.... if you want to be the
first on the block to impress the neighbors with that knowing sommelier
glint in your eye? Then cast off the chains of conventionality
and streak through the back garden with a bottle of violet Touriga,
baby.
A key and primary grape traditionally used to make fortified Port, as
we do with The Don, we have had very few releases as a dry red
wine. Touriga Nacional is loved by sommeliers throughout the
country for its wild and free bad self. Crazily aromatic: violets and
pine juice, bay laurel and sage. Check it out…try one and see what
you think. The somm appeal is because the wine has such distinctive
personality, juicy acidity that keeps hitting the refresh button
with food as opposed to being dulled down flavor-wise. Low alcohol,
12.9%, so you can drink more than a thimble full without needing
a nap. Touriga is an all around authentic wine having old world
lineage and provenance. Give it a whirl, you only live once. Drink
now for fun.
