Description
Improbable Wines for Unreasonable People
In 2010, Norrie Wake noticed the need for new crops in Kentucky and asked himself, “Why can’t Kentucky be known as wine country?” The answer: climate and soil. But Norrie has never let small details like “what’s reasonable” slow him down. He planted grapes and set about wine-making. There was one more tiny obstacle: he lived in a dry county, where it was illegal to buy or sell alcohol. Norrie’s petition to get a winery permit ignited a furor in the town, with Baptist preachers condemning him in their sermons and the Sheriff threatening to arrest him for bootlegging if he sold a bottle of his now-legal wine at the farmer’s market. Norrie’s response: “Come and get me! I’ll be the one with the turkey feather in my hat.”
Feeling unreasonable? Kick your feet up, sip a glass of Norrie’s wine and put a turkey feather in your hat.
So please bid on 3 bottles of authentic Kentucky wine from Lake Cumberland Winery in Monticello, KY!
