Description
For art lovers... Wilding Cran Gallery has an Art Club. They are offering TWO individual class passes for their two-hour monthly art workshops.
Wilding Cran Gallery's Art Club is an ongoing series of workshops for all ages. Each session is led by an art educator. Using the work on display as a springboard for personal discovery, participants are encouraged to create a project that explores a similar theme or implements the same materials. Workshops begin with a guided gallery walk through to open up a conversation about the content of the show before transitioning to a creative project. Each session aims to inspire and engage participants through the act of looking and making.
The Art Club schedule varies, with a commitment to a minimum of one class per month per group. Please visit wildingcran.com or wildingcran.com/artclub for details about future workshops, or email info@wildingcran.com.
Thank you to Naomi Wilding for this donation.
Here are examples of previous workshops:
May 2018: Based on the gallery's two current shows: The Good Part by Jeremy Everett and Fishers and Flotsam in the River of Light by Michael Cran.
Students used themes of movement, tension, and resistance as a foundation for their own pieces. They were asked to consider the idea of installation, and how the gallery space itself can become a part of the artwork. This workshop emphasized experimentation with materials and encouraged students to think about the process of making, and of exploring creativity through unexpected means.
October 2017: Inspired by Ariana Papademetropoulos’s piece Women Running from Houses, students made their own melodrama books with titles and a brief storyline.
December 2016: Looking at Jeremy Everett's Broken Grid paintings, students worked on the floor and painted with rollers using different fabrics and mesh-like materials as stencils.
February & March 2015: Inspired by the line drawing and collage of Jason McLean’s pictures and found objects, participants painted onto papier mache animals and created their own Art Club ‘Zines.’
