Description

Across The Universe Sewn Blanket
May 2018

Inspired by the Beatles song, "Across the Universe," Isabet's 2B class created individual fabric squares that represent each student's interpretation of the song.

Students chose their own way to express themselves with some drawing characters and others using different sheets of fabric and patches to create their piece of artwork. Each special square--including one from Isabet and one with the entire class' signatures--were sewn on a blanket to commemorate the students amazing year together.

The song has an interesting background where it was written by John Lennon for the World Wildlife Fund in the late 1960’s, celebrating nature, the universe, it’s diversity and more, which is all so perfect for our global citizens of 2B and LILA.

This item is on display on campus in Gallery 24.

Thank you to the teachers, students and parent volunteers who came together to create these works of art. Also, thanks to Dominique Cannobio, Melissa Nesic and the gallery team!
