In its 1976, 4th of July bi-centennial issue Life Magazine named Tillie Lewis one of the 200 Most Remarkable American Women since those rockets bursting in the air proved our flag was still there. 


Born in 1896 poverty, Tillie Lewis teaches us all that fear is a waste of time. Every disaster can be turned into riches if you follow Tillie’s FOCUSED refusal to be trapped in worry or cultural corsets.


 This original biography of the 1st Lady of Agriculture who began her Empire during the Great Depression with offices in Manhattan, Chicago, Stockton, and Modesto, and several spots in Texas. Ended her days globally involved in feeding the world: South America, Israel, Italy and the world grow food.


Tillie Lewis was born in 1896 in Brooklyn tenement poverty, joined Ziegfeld Follies at 15 and failed.  She excelled in the STOCK MARKET as a broker using her bosses 318license to sell. 1929 crashed and Tillie Failed.  Instead, she brought her clever mind to FOOD. “Everybody needs to eat”-Tillie Lewis.


 Tillie Lewis: The Tomato Queen was a REAL wonder woman who brought the San Marzano Tomato from Naples, Italy in 1930, becoming the 1st female Captain of Agri-Industry in America.

Tillie brought jobs to hundreds/thousands of families during the Great Depression in 1934- 1982 expanding her product line, profits and payroll into one of the five largest food producers on earth.   Tillie Lewis produced the first AMA approved diet products and 21-day diet plan, the Tasti-Diet, in 1953 using her own face and figure as the trademark of feminine perfection.  


TillieLewis Foods became the number one producer of tomato products world-wide. Tillie was the first female U.S. delegate to Rome’s Summits on Hunger.  She was the first female Seaport Commissioner, a Kentucky Colonel and held the Key to nearly every city stateside and abroad.


Tillie hob-nobbed with the Hollywood elite, athletic legends, real estate moguls, politicians, and royalty.  Born into the tenement poverty of Brooklyn, New York, Tillie chose to defy virtually every societal dictate of the early 1900’s utilizing her beauty, brains, and vitality to enchant wealthy lovers and travel the world enjoying a liberated life independent of her devoutly Jewish father and her simple grocer husband to become one of the wealthiest women of her time.
