Description

Lunch for eight people in ‘Olympia’s Valley Orchard’ on the Tresch Dairy Farm in Petaluma with a picnic provided by Jupiter Foods. An August/September date will also include the added attraction of being able to pick apples from the orchard to take home. Located in south western Sonoma County, 2,000 acres of picturesque landscapes surround family owned and operated Olympia’s Valley Estate and The Tresch Dairy. Operating since 1905, The Tresches Dairy is the second oldest organic dairy west of the Mississippi and is Straus Family Creamery's largest milk supplier. Olympia’s Orchard is sited at the old homestead, growing more than 50 varieties of certified organic heirloom apples. Joe and Kathy Tresch are deeply connected with their land. With a commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship at the root of the farm's mission, their children are 5th generation California dairy farmers. In 1988, the City of Santa Rosa attempted to acquire this property, which was being leased by the Tresch family at the time, to create a sewage reservoir. After six long years of advocating for the valley's protection, the Tresches purchased the ranch to ensure its preservation. In 1996, the Tresches won the Sierra Club’s Environmentalists of the Year Award for their efforts in preserving the land their farm and orchard are on. The Tresches maintain their environmental stewardship and have planted over 10,000 trees, native shrubs, and plants on their property. Read more at: www.olympiasvalley.com
