Description

This unique experience, not available to the general public, includes a tour for up to 10.  It is truly a VIP tour, with one of two astronomers who have been at Chabot for over 20 years, capping off the evening with telescope viewing.  Having a special tour with the astronomer also has interaction with the other volunteers in the various areas to expand and amplify their specific areas.  Your group will experience the awe and wonder of the universe on Nellie, Chabot's 36" deep space reflector telescope.  Nellie is housed in a rolling roof observatory, allowing access to 180 degrees of the sky.  This research telescope can offer breathtaking views of the cosmos.  This once-in-a-lifetime experience is available by advanced reservation on a Sunday evening from 7:30-9:30 PM weather permitting.

Chabot Space & Science Center is located in the beautiful Oakland Hills just off Highway 13 in Oakland, California. A Smithsonian affiliate, Chabot is an educational science center whose mission is to educate students of all ages about Planet Earth and the Universe.

This 86,000 square foot center offers interactive space and science exhibitions, immersive digital-dome planetarium shows, and giant screen MegaDome shows. Chabot is also home to largest research-quality telescopes open to the public west of the Mississippi River.
