2 Race Entries for Fall Classic - Mountain Biking

Date of race: September 8-9, 2018

The Fall Classic has roots…deep dark twisted roots…

It all started in 1984.  Stories abound of mountain goat stoners rolling to a previously agreed upon start line and scratching out a course in the dirt…ceremonies were observed and the race was on!  Some wore helmets, most didn’t!  Denim cutoffs were the preferred choice of “chamois”.

Over the years, The Fall Classic grew with the times.  It became a part of the Colorado Off Road Points Series and became the first MTB Stage Race…EVER!  There’s a story of fresh snow the night before one year and Rishi Grewal breaking trail on the Little French Flume.  Sado-masochist Race Director Mike Zobbe put the Humbug Hill Climb into the event and stories are still told of the yakfest at the finish!

It is the quintessential grass roots MTB race. Great course, great value, cold beer and guaranteed good weather (maybe).

The Oktoberfest 5K an annual fall race offering an active start to a festive weekend. Lace up your running shoes this September 8th and experience the changing aspens and beautiful scenery in this 5K trail run on Town of Breckenridge trails, finishing in time to enjoy the Breckenridge Oktoberfest celebration. The race is open to 200 runners.

The newly renovated 88,000 square foot Breckenridge Recreation Center offers a variety of athletic and community activities rarely found in a community of this size. We've tripled our fitness space primarily located in a new fitness wing with expanded cardio deck, weight room, circuit training space, Baker's Tank suspension training studio, and Wheeler cycling studio. 

The Recreation Center is also home to a gymnasium, racquetball court, indoor rock-climbing wall (top rope, bouldering and lead climbing), indoor track, and aerobic/dance studios,  The aquatics area features lap and leisure pools, the Summit Plummit water slide, coed sauna, indoor and outdoor spas, and community meeting room with kitchen.

Outdoor amenities include lighted softball fields, turf and grass soccer/rugby fields, playgrounds, public restrooms, basketball courts, three clay tennis courts, three hard courts and a .4 acre skateboard park with an 11-foot bowl and features for skaters of all levels..

The Recreation Center is open to residents and visitors daily. It is located at the north end of Town and is easily accessible via the Town transit system or the Blue River Bikeway.
