His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche spent 30 years collecting the substances that are contained in the Treasure Vase. He entrusted the rare substances to Lama Tharchin Rinpoche who designed a perfect vessel and ensured that His Holiness’s instructions would be followed exactly. 

In addition, Lama Tharchin Rinpoche added other precious substances, including blessed water from Bhutan. 

“These vases are extra special as the mother essence contains water from the stream that Dungse Thinley Norbu Rinpoche opened in Bhutan! There, people travel many miles to drink from this stream and they are healed! It is hard to explain how special this is.”  Lama Tharchin Rinpoche

Lama Sonam Rinpoche also added rare substances, including long life pills from Kyajabe Chatrel Rinpoche and dudtsi made with substances from His Holiness Dudjom Yangsi Rinpoche.

The Vajrayana Foundation is a Tibetan Buddhist retreat and teaching center founded by Lama Tharchin Rinpoche. It is a Nyingma center in the Dudjom Tersar tradition. Also a non-profit organization it was created by Lama Tharchin Rinpoche to establish the Buddha Dharma in the West. The main retreat center for the Vajrayana Foundation is Pema Osel Ling (Lotus Land of Clear Light), located in Santa Cruz, California.
