Description
Lifetime Adoption of Dorra, a whale shark
Dorra is a whale shark photographed and cataloged by Dr. Jennifer Schmidt of the Shark Research Institute earlier this year in the Gulf of Tadjoura, Djibouti, Africa.
This is a Lifetime Adoption, no annual renewal is needed. Dorra's guardian will be notified every time Dorra is re-sighted.
Dorra was named in honor a village in Djibouti where ancient rock art has been found.
Special Instructions
The objective of this auction is to spotlight individuals and organizations working effectively for ocean conservation, and raise funds for field research, education and conservation projects.
The Shark Research Institute began tagging and cataloging whale sharks in 1993 and some of them are available for adoption.
We hope that Dorra will be seen again (whale sharks are wild animals and follow their own paths through the ocean). Dr. Schmidt will be leading another expedition to Djibouti at the end of the year and if Dorra is sighted again, the guardian will be notified of the date and location where Dorra was seen.
The winning bid is deductible from US Federal 2018 income taxes as a Charitable Donation. A tax receipt will be issued to the winning bidder.
