Description

The Annapolis Maritime Museum is the gateway to the beautiful Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse. The Museum joined the Chesapeake Chapter of the U.S. Lighthouse Society and the City of Annapolis to manage and preserve this beloved National Historic Landmark. Built in 1875, the Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse is the last screw-pile lighthouse on the Bay still in its original location, one-and-a-half miles offshore in the Chesapeake Bay at the mouth of the South River. Conservation and restoration are ongoing goals of the partnership. Tours depart from the dock behind the Annapolis Maritime Museum where you will board the vessel Sharps Island that will take you to the lighthouse. All tours are on Saturdays at 9:00 am and noon and visitors must be age 12 or older. Click here for more details on the tours.
