Two pair of stemless flute glasses handmade of flame worked borosilicate glass. “Perlina” style refers to the “little pearls” of clear glass fused to and randomly placed on the glass’s surface.

malfatti: Italian [mahl-FAH-tee]. A type of hand-rolled dumpling; literally, "misshapen".

Each malfatti is uniquely shaped, the result of having been made in a flame using only hand tools and the breath of the artisan. Strong yet surprisingly soft in the hand, these lightweight glasses are made from borosilicate glass, the same material used to make laboratory ware.

The Ten Willow Studio creative team consists of Daniel Spitzer, master glassblower and former Dale Chihuly crew member, and Jill Reynolds, an award-winning visual artist known for her innovative use of flame-worked glass. This work was featured in The Dorsky’s Spring 2016 exhibition Made for You: New Directions in Contemporary Design.
