Description

Bid on a chance for you, your child and one friend (7-8s and older) to experience fiber arts with Lower School Spanish Teacher MariaTere and Upper School Resource Teacher Lo.

Join MariaTere and Lo for an afternoon of knitting, hand sewing, embroidery, or weaving. We can upcycle old t-shirts, decorate clothes using embroidery thread, turn old pillowcases into new weavings, or knit with wool from the MCS farm! Experienced crocheters and knitters can get help with a project or try something new.

In a 90-minute session, you will experience progressive education in action, as described by PEN cofounder and author, Tom Little. Lo and MariaTere will rely on students’ interests to guide their learning, you will learn about textiles from a variety of cultural perspectives and academic disciplines, be involved in real-world endeavors and expand your sense of social justice. You’ll experience attention to students’ emotions as well as their intellect, and loving learning with ongoing assessment and support.
