Jack Spencer (b. 1951) is an American photographer best known for his depictions of life in Mexico and the American South. His images emphasize the human subject, the landscape, and the relationship between them. Spencer is best known for his “Apparitions” (2004), a series of over 75 magical realist portraits and landscapes influenced by the writings of Jorge Luis Borges and Gabriel García Márquez. Jack Spencer’s photography is included in the collections of The Houston Museum of Fine Art, Berkley Museum of Art, Birmingham Museum of Art, Ogden Museum of Southern Art, New Orleans, LA and Sir Elton John’s Photography Collection to name a few.
