Shibori/Indigo Dye Workshop

Item Number: 170
Time Left: CLOSED

Description
Textile artist and Samohi choir mom Mimi Haddon will host a four-hour private shibori/indigo dye workshop in her home studio in Santa Monica for up to twelve participants.
This will be a fun and social chance for you to learn a craft, meet others in the community, and create beautiful items for yourself or to give as gifts - just in time for the holiday season!
The workshop will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2018. Mimi will provide one scarf for each participant to dye. Participants may bring additional items to dye. Participants must be at least 8 years of age; parents and children are welcome.
All twelve workshop spots will be sold as "Buy Now" items - no bidding and no competing with your friends and neighbors for spots in the workshop!
"Shibori" is an ancient Japanese resistance dying technique that dates back to the 8th century. The root verb "Shiboru" means to wring, squeeze, and press. Shibori uses methods of binding, folding, and twisting to compress the cloth into a beautifully dyed pattern. There are numerous ways to manipulate the fabric and each technique results in different designs and patterns.
Special Instructions
If fewer than six participants sign up for the workshop, the workshop will be cancelled and the Buy Now price will not be charged (or will be refunded).
