This large amethyst stone set in this wide band of 925 sterling is beautiful but flawed.  There is a large inlcusion, which is often in seen in amethyst. In gemology, an inclusion is a characteristic enclosed within a gemstone, or reaching its surface from the interior.  In this vintage piece of jewelry the inclusion is cleaved and cracked.

Thus the value of the ring is less, but the beauty and character endure.  Size 6 3/4.
