Description

Hand painted artist tape on gessoed board

8" x 8" x 0.75"

"Floral Study in Black, White and Gray #2" is a mixed media work on gesso panel that is created by the artist using a painted tape technique she has developed over many years. Artist tape is painted in varying colors, textures, and patterns to create a type of palette that is then intricately cut and used to "draw" an image. This particular variation of the technique uses a limited palette of black, white and gray that encourages the viewer to appreciate the subject in a purely graphic, non-literal, way.

Ann-Marie Gillett holds a BS in art ed from RIC. She continued her studies in painting, ceramics and printmaking at RISD, Bennington College & Mass College of Art & Design. Selected group shows include the Fitchburg Museum and Francesca Anderson Fine Arts gallery, among others, and solo shows for Gallery 175 and the Turks head Gallery in Providence RI. Her work is sold in galleries in RI and MA.
