The Sakonnet Bridge paintings were created in 2017 for an exhibition titled Spaces. The bridge symbolizes the divide between countries, beliefs or political groups. Ms. Granata's imagery comes from the bike lane on the Sakonnet River Bridge between Tiverton and Portsmouth were the artist's walk. The old bridge across the river has now been removed and a new bridge is in use connecting the gap between the division.

Lisa Granata holds a BFA degree in General Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art. She has an MFA degree in Painting from Cranbrook Academy of Art and a year's study in Florence Italy at Studio Arts Center International. Lisa lectures in the Art Dept. at Dean College and instructs Studio Art courses at Lasell College. She has been teaching a variety of art classes at the AAM to students of all ages since 1993.
