Paul Hitchen believes his paintings to be illustrations of pieces of his life and experience.  Paul grew up on the water and has been a lifelong sailor, therefore his art subject matter is often nautical or water-related. Lately though, he has been producing a series of paintings from a road trip through the southwest, US. His work continues to evolve, becoming less illustrational and more simplistic with a bold use of color.
