Description

Pastel

9.5" x 13.5" x 1"

The photo that inspired this painting was taken by a young woman visiting Egypt for the first time. She took it from a high rise in Cairo as she waited to be driven to the village where her parents were born.

Katherine Honey states that while it is wonderful to create a work of art that is admired, often her reason for painting is to be engaged in a process that is so encompassing that it is freeing. Like a relaxing vacation, painting renews her. Whatever priorities, emotions, and concerns existed before she raises her brush disappear. Hours evaporate and she is refreshed and ready to focus. Landscapes are a favorite subject of the artist.
