Description
Etching with aquatint
25" x 13" x 1"
A teasing mildness in the air foretells the advent of spring. The ends of the tree branches tremble with anticipation of bursting out in new green leaves. The sun is coming back from its southern journey. Enjoying a day outside, the artist has used the motif of a reflection in a bay window to celebrate the coming of spring. The technique of aquatint dates back to the 17th century, when it was a "secret process" used by cartographers.
Margo Lemieux has been involved in creative endeavor since the first grade when she got into trouble with her teacher for "decorating" her workbook. After graduating BU, she worked as a graphic designer, tee-shirt artist, newspaper correspondent, children's book author & illustrator, and other interesting things. Currently a professor at Lasell College, she has taught workshops at the AAM, Hang Do Studio in Hanoi, Vietnam, and RISD.
