Description

Egg Tempera

8.25" x 11.25" x 1"

"Vestige" is an egg tempera painting, which typifies the artist's theme of the natural world. Savino has drawn inspiration from such Italian Renaissance masters of narrative as Botticelli, Fra Angelico, and Fra Lippi, as well as her love of the land, which was sacred to her grandfathers who farmed. She considers herself to be a visual storyteller who paints narratives and small tableaux. In 2017, she made a trip to Florence Italy, and she reinvestigated the natural world through fresh eyes.

Diane Savino holds an MFA in painting from the Vermont College of Norwich University and an MA.Ed in painting from the Hartford Art School. In 2017, she gave a talk & demonstration about egg tempera at the AAM. She is also an independent arts curator, who has put together an egg tempera exhibit, "Nature and Narrative," to be featured in April 2019 at the AAM. Savino has exhibited widely through the US and abroad.
