"Ballerina Tossing a Ball" is nonsense of course. It is not meant to make sense. Its components are together in an image that does not want to be rationalized or understood. It just is. It hangs suspended in its own bizarre world.

Mark Wholey received a BFA in sculpture from the San Francisco Art Institute and graduated from Butera School of Art in Boston. He won First Place, in the "Color" exhibit at Providence Art Club and has exhibited throughout New England and central Italy. Current exhibits include Bristol Art Museum, 195 Redevelopment Project, Providence, and the Flying Horse Sculpture Exhibit in Hamilton, MA.
