Description
Photography
15" x 12" x 1"
The artist is drawn to compositions created by the physical and metaphorical juxtaposition of natural elements like leaves or moss to man-made materials like brick or concrete. This image is from Spain's Alhambra, where flowers grow out of ancient masonry below a mysterious doorway. The artist uses an ink-jet printer to print on printmaking paper, as she likes the softer, almost painterly quality that results.
Connie Babian Grab is a printmaker, photographer, and book artist, recently retired from teaching and practicing graphic design. Her work has been exhibited at the AAM, the Zullo Gallery and Little Compton Center, and as a Collective Marks artist member at Spring Bull Gallery and the Preservation Framer. She holds a BFA from RIT and an MFA from UMass Dartmouth.
