Description
Egg Tempera and hand processed pigments on panel
24.5" x 24.75" x 1.5"
This painting was based on a beautiful fossil given to the artist years ago by two dear friends. The piece was painted with hand processed mineral pigments, a pigment Theresa made by suspending dye from wild madder collected in Slater Park in alum (pink), and mica applied with egg tempera.
Theresa Pedrotti received her BFA in Painting from RISD where she studied pigment making & egg tempera painting. She makes the pigments she works with from rocks, minerals, and colored earths, and processes them via grinding and levigation.
