Description

Box: Soapstone, 28" x 1.25"

Necklace: Agate, glass & bone tubes, 4" x 6" x 2"

This agate pendant necklace was made by the artist, Mary Nash.  The agate pendant is strung with glass beads and hand carved, tubular bone beads with a rare earth magnetic clasp for ease of use.  Agate is a very hard cryptocrystalline form of silica marked by clouds of color due to the infiltration of other minerals.  The necklace comes with a hand carved, soap stone trinket box, which was made by the Besmo African tribe of Kenya, and a label on the bottom of the soap stone box identifies its origin.

Mary Nash is an internationally exhibited artist, who has won numerous awards. In 2018, Nash's drawings have been included in two international biennials.  Although she is rather new at jewelry making, Nash is also familiar with working with beads, buttons, rhinestones and bottle caps in her "Center of the Universe and Bead-O-Rama" environment.
