Framed fine art archival artist print (A.P.) of Jeannie Whelan's "Rose Window", 2018


Jeannie Pettigrew Whelan (mother of Jack, 8th grade) is an artist who lives and works in San Francisco. Her work has been exhibited in California, New York, Prague and Pienza, Italy.


Working in a variety of media, Jeannie loves to paint, draw and make prints that range from figurative to abstraction.


In addition to making her own work, Jeannie has worked with Robert Gober to install “Rat Trap” and with Sol LeWitt to install several of his pieces at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Jeannie also founded the Powell Street Projects , a pop-up gallery where she has exhibited her own work and has curated the work of other artists.


Jeannie has taught art to high school students, has mentored MFA candidates at the Art Institute of Boston and has taught painting and Drawing at UC Berkeley Extension and at the San Francisco Art Institute.


Jeannie earned a BFA in 1990 in Painting and Printmaking from the Rhode Island School of Design, a CLAD Teacher Credential in Art from Notre Dame de Namur University in 1998 and an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2004.
