Description

This selection of Larkmead Cabernet Sauvignon includes three bottles:

One (1) bottle of 2015 Larkmead Solari Cabernet Sauvignon and two (2) bottles of Larkmead Dr. Olmo Cabernet Sauvignon.

TASTING NOTES - 2015 Solari Cabernet Sauvignon

Grown on heavy clay soils during a warm year, the perfume of the 2015 Solari reflects these conditions – the glass is filled with macerated blue fruit, scorched earth and savory aromas. Once the tension is released from the dark and brooding aromatics, Solari’s classic violet tones and dried herb emerge giving a vertical lift to the wine.
There is a savory expansiveness on the palate that surrounds the cassis-like fruit profile, with a hint of salty, cured meats, crushed rock and gravel on the outer edge of the wine. A dried herb, bay leaf note persists on the back of your tongue. Red cherry is at the core of dusty, dry tannins that linger for over one minute on the finish. A great wine, even in its youth, with incredible complexity on the palate. Year in and year out, Solari is Larkmead’s greatest wine.

TASTING NOTES - 2015 Dr. Olmo Cabernet Sauvignon

The aromas on this wine are captivating! The warmer vintage leads with warmer tones on the nose - Black rose, a bit of Earl Grey, mahogany with a hint of dried herb and a Winter potpourri. Black licorice and Morello cherry come at you
from the secondary aromas coupled with a piney, forest floor undertone.

The palate continues the assault of aromas and flavors - graphite, crushed rock, bittersweet chocolate frame a core of macerated blue and black berries. When the blue and black fruit dissipate on the palate the structure on this wine is crunchy and gravelly, reflective of the soils in which the vines are planted.
