Description

A Two-Week Student Internship at Rady Children's Institute for Genomic Medicine

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a student with an interest in biomedical research or a health professional career to be in the lab of Dr. Joseph Gleeson at UCSD.   Dr. Gleeson holds the Rady Children's Hospital Auxiliary Endowed Chair for Neuroscience at Rady Children's Institute for Genomic Medicine.

Depending on the length of the internship,  the training will include DNA sequencing, working with laboratory animals, computer programming and anything else that might interest the intern. This would be a custom experience for the student.

Through Dr. Gleeson's research and the work of Rady Children's Institute for Genomic Medicine:

  • New causes of genetic diseases are being discovered.

  • More precise diagnoses are improving patient care.

  • More familial conditions can be studied.

  • Information is being shared globally.
