The artist, Mis Kyrene, teacher at Barron Park Kids' Club, created "Stand my ground" - a  sophisticated canvas painting. Mis' art work has been featured in local, regional and even out of state exhibitions (Chicago area).

There is a line from a song I love that goes, “The core of all life is a limitless chest of tales” and I certainly know that to be true. This painting encapsulates those words as one takes in the old, bare and knotted tree. Only the tree knows what it has seen since it was little more than a sapling. In this painting, the tree seems to reach out to the night sky where every star has a story to tell.
