With a millefleuris style that offers a soft reflective light from an array of pink and red hues, Aarens added glass marble to her theme with a touch of the seacoast.

About the artist: 

Mimi Aarens of Arlington, Massachusetts came to the field of Mosaic Art after a long history of painting. 

Aarens enrolled in a mosaic workshop a little over five years ago where she discovered an entirely new relationship with materials, tools and multi-dimension. Engaged with stained glass, tiles, mirror and "found" materials such as beads, shells and stones, Aarons considers this discovery a "sheer delight". What thrills Aarens is not only textures and infinite ranges of color from the materials, but also the play of light that reflects on the varied hard surfaces.

Aarens work has been exhibited at the Cary Library in Lexington, Massachusetts as well as the Somerville Museum and other venues around the Greater Boston area.
