Description
Enjoy a case of Santa Barbara Winery 2014 Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills.
2014 Pinot Noir
The Santa Rita Hills is a small appellation at the western end of the Santa Ynez Valley that has gained national recognition for its Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
The Valley runs west to east permitting the late afternoon ocean fog to roll into the Santa Rita Hills, where it lingers until early morning. The surrounding hills trap the fog before it is dissipated in the wider Santa Ynez Valley.
In the summer the fog moderates the normally warm days of the valley, cooling the grapes at night. Warm days and cool nights are essential to the development of Pinot Noir providing the necessary acid/sugar balance.
In the spring when frost is our biggest concern a layer of fog over the vineyard can provide protection.
Winemaker's Comments: In 2014 we had a good-sized crop in spite of 3 years of drought. The canopy and vigor were low resulting in good color and flavors. 7 different clones were used producing this complex bottling of Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir.

Rave Reviews!
"I've been a big fan of Santa Barbara Winery for quite some time, and find many of their wines (along with sister company Lafond) fantastic.
Their tasting room is a block off State Street located in what I believe is the "Funk Zone," which is an absolutely horrible name. The pourers at the tasting room are friendly, knowledgeable, and best of all, if you ask for something off menu, they'll often oblige -- if the bottle is open.
As for what to drink, they're known for their Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. I'm learning to appreciate whites, but it was never an issue with the Reserve Chardonnay, as it stands as one of my all-time favorites. I am also a big fan of their Sangiovese, Cabernet, and Nebbiolo.
Overall, I just highly recommend. If you do happen to walk in for a tasting there is a very good chance you'll walk out with a few bottles in hand."
