The Maile lei is steeped in history and Tradition.  Known as "The Royal Lei" because it was prized by Ali'i (Hawiian royalty), and often given to denote honor and respect. The Maile lei is also a symbol of courtship and love. The leaves are believed to protect the wearer, bestow good luck, and even possess healing powers.

Leilani Rose was born and raised in Kona-Hawaii.  After the volcano ravished most of her home on the Big Island, and business was at a stand still.  She moved to start a new life, and be a new local artist to Solvang, and California.  Leilani started her glass career over 20 years ago, training in Italy with stained glass masters. “My love of every medium in glass, has blessed me with the opportunity to train with the top masters around the World.”

Enzo Aiello; Rome Vatican Mosaic Artist, Peter McGrain; Glass Painting,

Dennis Brady; Etching/Mixed Media, and Bonnie Bruggar; Fused Glass, in British Columbia (and other masters).  Leilani feels you need to incorporate the newest products, and techniques into your work, and take a little something you have learned from all your masters, and create your own voice in your art.

Her molded jewelry designs are her newest venture, and each piece is kiln fused, which can take up to 14 hours or more, to get the shape and design, to permanently fuse into the glass.  Depending on the design, or if images need to be permanently burnt into the glass, it can take up to three firings to achieve the desired effect.  She designs all the elements, decorative wire work, and beading, to make them truly a one of a kind piece of jewelry art.  "My clients know, they are receiving a one-of-a-kind piece of art, that they will treasure knowing it was handmade from the heart.”

Her artwork, and her jewelry, has been appreciated and sold, to every type of customer, including A-Listers, Dignitaries, and Celebrities, and clients from around the World. Currently, you can find her artwork in selected galleries on Maui, and on the Big Island of Hawaii, or by custom order.

Leilani's former studio "Hokulani Glass" was also highly acclaimed, as one of the top studios in the State of Hawaii, to train in all mediums in glass.
