About the Artist: Sam Zhao is a dedicated artist that enjoys exploring the world of art as a means of demonstrating his love for life. His works include figures, landscapes, and still-lifes, in both realistic styles and those strongly influenced by impressionism. He has done a number of "plein air" paintings around the Newton neighborhood where he lives, including Crystal Lake and Newton Center. His works bring harmony and joy, as well as visual excitement to a wide range of audiences.

Sam Zhao first began drawing and sketching at age five. His passion for art continued through college, where he majored in oil painting. Sam is an active member of several art associations, including Oil Painters of American and Newton Art Association. He also teaches painting classes for both children and adults in his in-home art studio in Newton, which is right around the corner from Mason-Rice.
