Painting on surfboards has always been a creative outlet for Katherine. She says it brings her balance, creativity, and joy. Katherine achieved her Bachelor of Fine Art with an emphasis in painting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, while playing Division 1 volleyball on a full scholarship. After graduation, she traveled aboard to Croatia, where she played professional volleyball while honing her craft of painting and drawing on new surfaces beyond the typical canvas.

Once she returned home to San Juan Capistrano, California, she furthered her learning by attending culinary school in Laguna Beach, California. Being an Orange County native, it was only natural for her to start utilizing all differnt types of mediums specifically old surfboards.

Katherine is a lead cook in the banquet kitchen, and has been working at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel for the past four and a half years.
