PROKOFIEV/DENÈVE Cinderella Suite
PROKOFIEV Piano Concerto No. 2
PROKOFIEV Alexander Nevsky

Music Director Designate Stéphane Denève leads a tour-de-force program devoted to Russian composer, Sergei Prokofiev, featuring the cinematic score, Alexander Nevsky, as well as Denève’s own suite arranged from Prokofiev’s Cinderella ballet.

Written in 1938 as the score to accompany a historic epic on the big screen, Alexander Nevsky is a dramatic cantata that transcends film as a masterful work for orchestra, chorus and mezzo-soprano.
The Independent (London) declares, “Yefim Bronfman is a pianist with a wondrous capacity to galvanize a hall, particularly with the Russian repertoire (such as Prokofiev’s Second Piano Concerto) which is his specialty.”
The glittering fairytale of Cinderella comes to life with selections from Prokofiev’s vibrant and colorful ballet score.
