The building as a bakery dates all the way back to the 1930s, over 85 years ago. Once known as Tillman’s and Dave’s Bakery, became The Backerei & Coffee Shop in 1994. Jerry & Cindy Hauser are 4th generation owners who employ roughly 15 people including their daughter, Kelsie, who is the front end manager. The baking staff consists of 6 who work overnight to ensure fresh product is ready for customers and delivered to businesses.

Jerry has over 40 years experience in the baking industry. He first starting working in this very building when he was a teenager. He worked for Jim Tillman who owned the business at that time and went on to work for Hy Vee as well for many years. The decision to be business owners by Jerry & Cindy was a challenge they wanted to take. They knew they had the experience and dedication to put out a quality product and serve the community.
