Description
Shirodhara is a delectable Ayurvedic treatment for wellness and inner balance.
A warm soothing oil streams from a copper vessel onto the third eye—a marma point between and slightly above the eyebrows. This balances the pituitary gland and has a deeply restful and quieting effect on the brain/mind and offers a drink to the hair.
An accompanying face and head massage taps into the balancing energy of Marma points (Ayurvedic acupressure points), further calming and balancing the nervous system and assisting with lymph drainage and detox.
Practitioner is an experienced licensed massage therapist, somatic movement educator, yoga educator and mental health counselor.
Treatment is offered in practitioner's home in New Paltz, NY.
Allow 60-75 minutes for consulting, treatment and clean up. Includes 20 minute face/head massage and 25 minute shirodhara treatment. Bring a small towel to wrap hair in and continue conditioning your head and hair or choose an optional shower.
