Description

This stained glass painting of the Jewish Star of David was hand crafted by Clara Rechnitz, a Holocaust survivor who lives in Framingham.

Clara's interest in colorful items started very early in life in Germany. Self-taught, she was finally able to pursue her interest in making art after her four children were grown. Clara cut her own glass manually to make the shapes for her stained glass paintings.

She had numerous exhibits over the years, including one at Boston City Hall. During that time she was an artist member of the prestigious Copley Society of Art in Boston – the oldest non-profit art association in the United States.

Although she had to give up glass cutting due to carpal tunnel syndrome, her love of collecting crystals, minerals, and gems, led her artistic inspiration into making necklaces and earrings with a variety of semi-precious stone beads.

Perfect to adorn a door or window, Clara has generously donated this special piece to the JFS Seize the Dream auction
