Lunar Celebration

A moon rise iluminates a breaching humpback whale in this powerful original painting by marine life artist Wyland.  Wyland encountered this scene on a still evening as his small boat drifted silently over calm water. "We were amased when a forty-ton humpback whale suddenly hefted its entire bod towards the heavens," he says.  "It seemed to hang there frozen in time.  I wanted to hold that moment forever. Lunar Celebration is my way of capturing the ingredible power and grace these acrobatic leviathans."
