Red Moon Lodge is proud to offer Hand Woven Rugs from Oaxaca

Following a rug making process inherited from their Pre-Columbian predecessors, the Miguel Garcia family begins with wool obtained from local herders of Churro sheep raised in the Oaxaca highlands. They then  skillfully weave the yarn on a hand loom. Striking geometric symbols are inspired by ancestral designs from ancient temples. The exceptional hues come from natural vegetable and organic dyes, thus creating items of appealing texture as well as of artistic value. The red dyes used in these rugs are derived from the cochineal insect that lives on the nopal cactus. Other dyes include:  bujuco (a parasitic moss native to Oaxaca), Campeche wood (a tree native to Oaxaca), Indigo (wild plants), Marigold (wild), Madrone bark, Moss (a tree moss native to Oaxaca), Muitle (a small shrub native to Oaxaca), Pecan shells, leaves and bark, wild tarragon, and local clays. Natural wool is also used to create the unique colors.

Red Moon Lodge is a retreat style B&B in Moab Utah. Their goal is to provide quality and organic comfort in a tranquil sanctuary like atmosphere.
