Landry Liquors began as Landry's Druggist in 1938 by Eugene Landry. At the time, the drugstore was actually allowed to have a liquor license! The original store was located right next door to our current location in the Honey Dew plaza. At some piont Gene moved the store to where Bakers' Corner Pizza and Ritz Diner are now. Gene, a long time resident of Seekonk, put all he had into the business until he was ready to retire in 1968. It was at this time that the drugstore closed and the liquor license was sold to two gentlemen by the names of Frank Crocker and Pat Smith. The new owners opened Landry Liquors which was located right next to Almac's (still in Baker's Corner). In 1971, Frank and Pat sold the business to my Dad, James Mohler, who continued to operate the small family business while still honoring the original owner, Gene Landry's legacy. The liquor store was a very big part of my life and when my dad was ready to sell the business in 1994, I knew that it was meant to continue with me. Following in my father's footsteps, I too wanted to honor the original owner and kept the Landry family name. However, due to changing times, I was forced to move the business in April of 1996. As fate would have it, I was able to secure our current location in Baker's Corner where we continue to run our small, family business to this day. Drop by sometime and you may meet my brother-in-law, one of my two daughters, a few really good friends, or myself - Jim Mohler.
