Scoops Ice Cream and More began as an idea in the heads of owners Mark and Heidi Wavinak after attending their sons’ baseball games at Dred Scott Fields in Bloomington. Sitting out and watching their sons play in the summer heat prompted them to think, “We need ice cream! Good ice cream.” And thus, Scoops was born.

Mark and Heidi, who are now-retired Eden Prairie  teachers, opened Scoops for our first season on April 1st, 1994. For those who were there that day, the length of the line matched the length of the building in which we are still located. As those first customers walked through the doors, the same atmosphere greeted them that will greet you: our pink walls, right out of the 1950s; our Wall-of-Fame with autographs from such celebrities as Frank Sinatra and Jay Leno; the jukebox playing vintage 45 records; and the smiling faces of our wonderful Scoopers.
