The first grade team is asking for a more comprehensive guided reading room. When working with students for small group reading instruction you need varying levels of text difficulty and multiple copies of the same book. This set from Scholastic provides the books, bins, and teacher resources to implement guided reading. This set includes 600 books for only $4.76 per book.  We currently have some guided reading books and already use them daily, but we need more levels of varying text difficulty to best suit our students!  This will extend what we already are implementing. Guided reading is one component of a balanced literacy program that allows teachers to meet the needs of all students – regardless of their level of proficiency – so they become stronger, more confident readers. The best thing about these is they will be placed in a community resource room in our school so any teacher needing to pull a set of books for a small group can use this resource! These books will be used for many years and for many students!
