The Museum at Eldridge street is housed in the Eldridge Street Synagogue, a magnificient National Historic Landmark that has been meticulously restored. Opened in 1887, the synagogue is the first great house of worship built in America by Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe. Today, exhibitions, tours, cultural events and educational programs tell the story of immigrant life, explore, architecture and hostoric preservation, and inspire reflection on cultural continuity. Family programs including art projects, kid-friendly history tours, and exciting concerts welcome visitors  of all ages to experience the magic of this historic site.
