Spend a summer weekend at this lovely retreat cottage right on the water in North Beach, MD. It feels like a world away, but it's only a 45 minute drive from DC, and you don't even need to cross the Bay Bridge to get there. Sleeps 6-8 in 3BR, 2BA, den, open (updated) kitchen and huge screened porch overlooking lawn, dock, and Eastern Shore beyond. You can swim from the dock, use the inner tubes and kayak, grill dinner, and take a short walk along the water into the little town of North Beach for an ice cream cone or a visit to the candy store that boasts a giant PEZ collection. For an old-fashioned, low-key family weekend you can't beat it. Wifi is a new upgrade this year, so you have the option of staying in touch with the outside world -- but you won't want to!
